Hi! In high school extracurriculars were always hard to take part in because I didn't have a car. Now in college, I feel so much more independent and can join anything I want! My favorite extracurriculars I've done have been volunteering through Student Volunteer Council. They have events every month and I try to attend as many as possible. I've gotten so many of my friends to come with me to different ones every time and they love it too. Volunteering has opened my eyes to how I can make a difference in my community, and I'm so thankful for the opportunity this extracurricular has given me! :)
That's awesome. I took part in Winter Wishes a few years ago! SVC puts together some really great programs. If you enjoy community service, you should definitely check out Dance Marathon. It's been one of the most rewarding experiences of my entire life. Check out their website-- marathon.rutgers.edu. It helps raise money for the Embrace Kids foundation, which supports families of children with cancer (and other blood disorders).
Hello!!! I am currently in my junior year of college here at Rutgers University, and I have also been a member of the Rutgers Softball team during my time here. I have to say being a member of a team here has been the best and most rewarding experience. Not only do I get to continue to play a sport I have loved for my entire life, I have created bonds and relationships with friends that will never be forgotten. I have had the opportunity to travel to places I have never been before, meet people I do not believe I would have met otherwise and grown as an all around better individual who gives back to the community. I would not trade being a member of the softball team here for anything.
I never had the opportunity to play sports in college. It sounds like you gained so much from experience. At some point in the future, I would love to interview you and write a post about it! Let me know if you're interested.
I have been involved in EOF (education opportunity fund), BSU (black student union) & NAACP (national association for the advancement of colored people)... I feel like these programs helped me a lot throughout my college career.

ReplyDeleteCool! I worked EOF orientation two years in a row (2011-2012). What year did you attend the program?
